I have a question about an example in the expanded vocab:

Es mejor ir de compras a un centro comercial donde se encuentran tiendas de ropa como de comida y electrodomรฉsticos.

"Itโ€™s best to shop at a mall where you can find all types of stores like clothing stores, supermarkets, and electronic appliances."

I am sure the translation is right, but I am trying to understand for future reference. It appears that "tiendas de ropa como de comida" is translated the same as if it were "tiendas de ropa y tiendas de comida". So I am trying to figure a general rule for translating "como" in similar cases. In this instance does "como' mean something like "as well as"?
