INTRODUCTION |
Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric. |
Alex: And I'm Alex. |
Eric: And welcome to Must-Know Spanish Sentence Structures, Season 1, Lesson 7. Describing something in the future. |
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for describing something in the future. |
PATTERN |
Eric: For example, |
Eric: "I will do homework on the weekend." |
Alex: Yo haré la tarea el fin de semana. |
Alex: [slow] Yo haré la tarea el fin de semana. |
Eric: The pattern for describing something in the future has three elements. First comes the pronoun, "I." |
Alex: Yo. |
Eric: Second, the verb in future tense, "will do," conjugated in the first person singular form. |
Alex: haré. |
Eric: Third, the complement, "homework on weekend." |
Alex: la tarea el fin de semana. |
Eric: Altogether, we have..."I will do homework on the weekend." |
Alex: Yo haré la tarea el fin de semana. [slow] Yo haré la tarea el fin de semana. [normal] Yo haré la tarea el fin de semana. |
Eric: First use a pronoun, which can be replaced by a proper noun or any other subject. It is followed by the verb in the future indicative form. Finally, you can add any details about what someone or something will do in the future - noun, noun phrase, adjective, adverb, and so on. |
Alex: Yo haré la tarea el fin de semana. |
Eric: So remember that to describe something in the future, first give a pronoun, plus a verb in its future indicative form, and add a complement for more details. |
Eric: Here is another example meaning, "She will take a nap." First comes the pronoun, "She." |
Alex: Ella. |
Eric: Second, the verb in future, "will sleep," conjugated in the third person singular form. |
Alex: dormirá. |
Eric: Third, the complement, "a nap." |
Alex: la siesta. |
Eric: Altogether we have.. |
Alex: Ella dormirá la siesta. [slow] Ella dormirá la siesta. [normal] Ella dormirá la siesta. |
Eric: "She will take a nap" |
[pause] |
Alex: Ella dormirá la siesta. |
Eric: How do you say - "He will call tomorrow."? To give you a hint, "will call" is.. |
Alex: llamará. [slow] llamará. [normal] llamará. |
Eric: He will call tomorrow. |
[pause] |
Alex: Él llamará mañana. [slow] Él llamará mañana. [normal] Él llamará mañana. |
[pause] |
Alex: Él llamará mañana. |
