Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to ask and answer the question, "How do you say this?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask someone how a word is pronounced.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
¿Cómo se dice esto?
Se dice "estacionamiento".
Once more with the English translation.
¿Cómo se dice esto?
“How do you say this?”
Se dice "estacionamiento".
"It's 'parking lot.'”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “How do you say this?”
That's: ¿Cómo se dice esto?
Listen to it again: ¿Cómo se dice esto?, ¿Cómo se dice esto?
“How do you say this?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Se dice [ ].
This Spanish sentence literally translates into " It is said [word]. ” But it means “It's (word).”
For example:
"It's 'parking lot.'”
Se dice "estacionamiento"., Se dice "estacionamiento".
