INTRODUCTION
Today's phrase will help you to take matters into your own hands. In today's lesson, we'll take a look at "please," as in asking for something.
GRAMMAR POINT
In Spanish, "Please" is Por favor.
Por favor.
Let's break it down by syllable - Por fa-vor.
Now, let's hear it again, Por favor.
The most rudimentary way of using "please" is pointing at something while saying please, but let's try and build this up a bit, shall we?
Let's start with the expression "This, please" which in Spanish is Esto por favor.
In English, "this" comes before "please." In Spanish, the word order is flexible, so we’ll keep the order the same as in English for familiarity. Therefore, for this lesson, we’ll place the word for “this” (esto) before “please” (por favor).

Let's take a look at the word for "this." "This" in Spanish is esto.

Looking at the word for "this" warrants a look at the word for "that," which is eso.

In Spanish, there is another word for referring to something, which if we go by distance from the speaker, it’s used when something is quite far from the speaker, far enough that eso is not used. This word is aquello.

You use esto when you’re talking about something which is close to you.
You use eso when you’re talking about something which is not close to you, but to the person you’re talking to.
You use aquello when you’re talking about something that is not close to either you or the person you are talking to.
