Pronounciation question

Postby Newby276 » October 20th, 2009 4:14 pm

This is a question about the Spanish "ll". I have heard it pronounced with a "y" sound, but everyone on spanishpod101 pronounces it with a "j" sound (ex. Lleno, llavar). Is there a single way to pronounce this letter or are there multiple ways?

I is my experience that this is one of those regional issues. Most of the time (just from my own personal experience and those I talk to) in the US, most students are taught to use the "y" sound, because it is easy to understand and it works. various regions of the Spanish speaking world tend to use that almost Engish "J" sound. I don´t think either way is "right " or "wrong" - it jsut depends on where you are.
