Hola! I have just joined SpanishPod101.com. I was an advanced student of Spanish in college, but then I moved to France later on, where I didn't practice very much Spanish at all , so I forgot it.
Now I regret letting it all go away, because I have been dancing Flamenco for the past couple of years, and I'm envious of all the other students that know how to communicate in Spanish. So I'm here to get it back.
We use many Spanish terms in our dance - footwork is called "taconeo", you do "flores" with your hands, you exchange places with a partner in a "pasada", and there are many more. The dances we learn come from all over Spain, and include Tangos, Farruca, Alegrias, and my favourite, Sevillanas. In fact, I just danced Sevillanas with castanets on Saturday night, our studio was celebrating Carnaval. And I was voted Reina (Queen) of the Carnaval!
Nice to meet you all.
